14-11-2023

On November 8 and 9, we participated in Infra Chile, an event that has brought together the most important companies in the country and that are part of the concessions ecosystem, which in Chile celebrates 30 years of life. The initiative was led by the Minister of Public Works Jéssica López, and had the participation of the Minister of Finance, Mario Marcel, the former president of the Republic Eduardo Frei, government authorities and senior executives of the most important companies in the sector.

The main objective of the meeting was to bring together leaders from the public and private spheres to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing infrastructure in Chile. At this point, the Minister of Public Works expressed her recognition to the companies in the sector for their commitment and essential role in the development of the country. She highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration to promote high-quality infrastructure projects that improve the lives of citizens. For his part, Mario Marcel, Minister of Finance, shared his vision on the fundamental role of investment in infrastructure for sustainable economic growth and underlined the importance of financial stability to promote long-term projects.

To advance in terms of investment and strengthening the system between now and 2050, Minister Jéssica López announced the creation of a permanent working group between the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Social Development, and the concessionaire companies. “We are convinced that the time has come to move towards a 2.0 concession system, in which people and their well-being are the first point of any analysis.”

From Globalvia, we have been present in this important event through the active participation of Iñigo Alonso, Deputy Director of Highways Latam and the USA, in the private pannel that was held on November 8 with the Minister of Public Works together with a group reduced number of investors, and the attendance the next day of the Globalvia Chile Management team at sector meetings.

We thus reaffirm our role as critical actors in the Chilean concessions system and our commitment to continue contributing to the country’s development in close collaboration with the authorities and companies in the sector to achieve a more prosperous and connected future for all Chileans.
