On Tuesday, July 9, Fernando Vallejo, Director of Innovation, IT and Sustainability at Globalvia and Managing Director of Openvia Mobility, participated in the III Mobility Forum of El Economista, held under the name “The sustainable revolution of mobility and logistics”.

Fernando shared the discussion table “The traveler at the center of mobility” together with Belén Fernández, Corporate Manager of Customer Experience at Avanza by Mobility Ado, Isabel García, General Manager of Freenow Spain, Sonia Araujo, General Director of Innovation, Sustainability and Digital Transformation of Renfe and Florent Bannwarth F, Director of Operations of BlaBlaCar.

The experts discussed key issues that impact the field of mobility, such as digital transformation and intermodality, which play a fundamental role in meeting the new needs of users, as well as the great challenge of the decarbonization of companies in the sector.

During his speech, Fernando highlighted our approach to facilitating and minimising the traveller’s effort through solutions such as mobile payment in Metro de Sevilla and the automatic application of the cheapest fare. In addition, on digitalisation, Fernando stated that the use of data and AI is key to the digitalisation of roads to make them compatible with the automated driving systems of new vehicles.

In relation to this topic, Fernando shared an interesting reflection, alluding to Spain’s leadership in the infrastructure sector: “In 10 years’ time will we be able to say that we have the most developed road network in Europe?” In this sense, projects such as NeoRoads, our initiative for the digitalisation of roads, are essential to respond to the challenges of the mobility of the future.

Finally, in the last block of interventions on decarbonisation, he highlighted our efforts in this area, giving as an example the validation of our emission reduction targets in accordance with the Science Based Targets initiative, being in Globalvia one of the first companies in the infrastructure sector that assume this commitment, and highlighting the carbon neutrality that we have already achieved in four countries in which we are present.

Many thanks to El Economista for the invitation to this Mobility Forum!
