We launch the “Unstoppable Girls” young female leadership program in Ruta Portuaria
31-03-2025

Our commitment to equal opportunities and creating a positive impact in the communities we serve has motivated us to launch the “Unstoppable Girls” project in our Ruta Portuaria concession in Colombia.

Unstoppable Girls, an initiative of 50&50 Gender Leadership in collaboration with IE University and led by the journalist Gloria Lomana, is a leadership and networking program for young women between the ages of 15 and 18. It seeks to enhance female leadership by highlighting female leaders and role models and helping to eliminate the gender biases prevalent in our society. This is a task of great importance, considering the results of various studies, such as the Science study “Gender stereotypes about intellectual ability,” which reveals that, from the age of six, girls begin to underestimate themselves, to the point that it is at this age that they mostly attribute the attribute of being “very intelligent” to boys, rather than to themselves.

For this reason, we believe it is important to promote these types of initiatives, whose objective is to give girls and young women self-confidence so that they feel that technical careers and leadership positions are also for them.

From Gobalvia Madrid, and with the collaboration and active participation of Ruta Portuaria, we wanted to give nine young women, daughters of our colleagues and members of the area of influence of our Colombian concession, the opportunity to become “Unstoppable Girls” and enjoy this enriching experience.

Over four days, held on March 28 and 29 and April 4 and 5, these girls will attend several masterclasses and lectures given by leading women in the fields of entrepreneurship & fintech, technology, AI & Marketing, People & industry.

Thus, at the first of these sessions, held last Saturday in Bogotá, our colleague Sandra Carbonell, General Manager of Ruta Portuaria, gave a masterclass in which she had the opportunity to talk with the girls participating in the program about her professional career, the challenges she has overcome, her day-to-day life at Globalvia, her vision for the future, and to share with them some recommendations for their professional future.

To conclude this program, during the final day, the participants will present the group entrepreneurship projects they have been working on during the previous sessions to the Chicas Imparables Board of Directors, made up of business and institutional leaders, demonstrating everything they have learned.

In the words of Sandra Carbonell: Participating in the Unstoppable Girls program masterclass was a key experience that reaffirmed the importance of providing tools and opportunities to all the young women involved in this initiative, including the daughters of our employees and members of the project’s communities of influence. Their enthusiasm and confidence in expressing themselves demonstrate that, when given the space to learn and grow, they are ready to take on any challenge. Programs like this not only impact their personal development but also build a solid foundation for their professional future. We have a responsibility to continue supporting these spaces and fostering an environment where all women have equal opportunities for leadership and growth.”

We’re paving the way for a new generation of confident, capable women ready to transform any industry!
