Ruta 27 inaugurates the new viaduct at kilometer 44
31-10-2023

This Monday, October 30, has been a very important day for our Concession at Costa Rica, Ruta 27, as we celebrate the inauguration of the new viaduct that will solve the problem of subsidence generated by a geological fault at kilometer 44 of our highway.

This ambitious project, which began in October 2022, has represented an extraordinary engineering effort, which has included earthworks exceeding 250 thousand cubic meters and the assembly of a structure 145 meters long and 1,000 tons of steel; all this guaranteeing safe passage for users at all times and without affecting vehicular traffic. This viaduct is undoubtedly an essential solution to address the deep geological fault that is causing land subsidence in the area.

The event, organized jointly by Ruta 27, the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation and the National Concessions Council, was attended by the press and relevant authorities of the administration who reflect the great importance of this milestone for the country. Among them, the President of the Republic, Mr. Rodrigo Chaves, the Spanish Ambassador to Costa Rica, Mrs. Eva Martínez Sánchez and the Minister of PublicWorks and Transportation,  Mr. Luis Amador.

On behalf of Globalvia, our General Director of Highways, Javier Martín Rivals, was in charge of starting the event by offering a brief speech in which he highlighted the great technical quality of the viaduct, the optimization of the project execution time,  and our high commitment at all times to guarantee environmental protection and safety measures for our users:

“For Globalvia, user safety is a priority, which is why we do not skimp on carrying out all the corresponding studies to reach a solution and apply it in the shortest time possible. The work has been erected, maintaining effective service for users at all times. At Globalvia, working under the highest quality standards with an emphasis on sustainability is part of our DNA.”

On the other hand, our colleague Claudio Pacheco, Technical and Operational Director of Ruta 27, has answered the most technical questions of this ambitious project.

Congratulations to our team of Ruta 27 team for the great work done and for their commitment, which have turned this viaduct into a reality in record time!
