Ruta 27 delivers the preliminary project for the expansion of the Concession

On 22nd January of last year, the negotiation process of the studies that would allow the expansion of the Concession was signed between the Minister of Public Works and Transportation of Costa Rica, Rodolfo Méndez Mata and the General Manager of Ruta 27, Carlos González Álvarez.

During more than a year of intense work, the Concession team involved in the project in collaboration with the Corporation Construction team and external consultants, have prepared studies and analysis of the different economic scenarios to expand Ruta 27 between San José and Caldera.

On Thursday, March 4, the preliminary project for the expansion of Ruta 27 was delivered to the National Concessions Council. A delivery that has been a very important milestone, being a good example of teamwork, even overcoming great challenges derived a result of the pandemic.

The document, with 10 volumes, divides the project into three sections, specifying the works to be carried out in each of them and the total investment of $ 646 millions. The expansion involves the section between the National Gymnasium, in La Sabana and Puerto Caldera, in Puntarenas.

The Technical Secretary of the National Concessions Council, José Manuel Sáenz, thus confirmed that the preliminary draft received is complete, including all the scopes hat were requested from Ruta 27 for the development of technical studies. Sáenz also advanced the expansion process, indicating that together with external advisers and the supervisor, they will review the preliminary project to later enter negotiations with the Concessionaire. A task that will take three months. However, he ventured that the administration’s idea is to develop the project in stages and that they hope to start with the works in March 2022.
