Last Sunday, February 13, our Costa Rican concession Ruta 27 became the scene of one of the most important cycling events in the country, the celebration of the Gran Fondo Andrey Amador.
This is a very special event for cycling lovers, who have had the opportunity to enjoy Ruta 27 when it has been closed to traffic for the occasion, in a historic event. The route has been divided into two phases, a first section that has consisted of 60 kilometers, starting in Paseo Colón in the center of San José and culminating in Orotina and a second phase of 160 kilometers and with a finish line in Quepos.
The section of Ruta 27 corresponding to the first 60km, has been the best qualified by the participants, who have been able to fulfill their dream of traveling Ruta 27 in a safe way, being able to enjoy a beautiful landscape and optimal weather conditions, in a unique experience.
Gran Fondo Andrey Amador has counted with the participation of 4,500 athletes, including renowned cyclists such as the Spaniards Alberto Contador, Óscar Pereiro and Joaquín Purito Rodríguez, as well as the Argentine Daniel Moreno.
The great success of this event has been possible thanks to the great work of our Ruta 27 teams, whose effort and dedication have made it possible to organize all the logistics related to the closure of Ruta 27 to traffic.
