Metro de Sevilla has made a new functionality available to users in its digital channels that allows users to consult in real time the operating status of the elevators and escalators at Line 1 stations.
This new information service makes it possible to know the operational status of this equipment at the origin station and at the destination station, eliminating one of the main points of uncertainty that can arise when planning trips, especially for the people who most depend on these systems for their mobility.
Elevators and escalators connect the street with the lobbies and station platforms. Although the reliability of these facilities is very high, having real-time information on their status provides peace of mind and allows for better planning of the journey, improving the experience of people who choose the metro for their trips.
This type of traveler information tools is already present in large metropolitan systems such as the New York Metro, Washington Metro, Barcelona Metro or Madrid Metro, which offer data on the availability of all or some of this equipment.

Metro de Sevilla has expanded the focus of the tool by incorporating an additional layer of information, indicating whether the escalators are up or down, allowing users to more accurately plan their route within the station.
This new functionality responds to the Sevillian metropolitan’s commitment to digitalization as a tool to facilitate accessibility and optimize the travel experience, reinforcing its position as a reference operator in innovation applied to urban transport.
The real-time information on the operation of escalators and elevators complements the offer of digital tools that Metro de Sevilla offers to users of the service, such as real-time consultation of the passage of trains per station, environmental conditions inside the trains, balance consultation, online recharge of Metro de Sevilla travel tickets and the possibility of enjoying smart postpaid through the registered user modality in the Tap&Go validation system.
Congratulations to Metro de Sevilla for this new innovation, always at the services of our users!
