Last 30 January 2014, Globalvia completed
the acquisition of a 5% of the shares and the loan notes of M50 Concession, the
concessionaire company in charge of the M50 Motorway in Dublin, Ireland.
Before the transaction, Globalvia owned a 45%
of the M50. The other two shareholders were the Dutch investment fund DIF, with
a 45%, and the local contractor Hegarty, with a 10%. As a result of the
transaction, Hegarty sold its 10% half to Globalvia and half to DIF.
The acquisition consolidates Globalvia as the
leading shareholder of the M50, a key infrastructure asset in Ireland that in 2013 it registered an
average daily traffic over 113.000 vehicles, a 2.8% more than in 2012.
Globalvia Ireland also operates the N6 Motorway
and, since last year, the MMaRC A Contract. In total, more than 257 Km of
motorways, most of them located in the Dublin Metropolitan Area, the busiest
network of the country.
