The consortium consisting of The Go-Ahead Group and ComfortDelGro has won the tender for the operation of the Stockholm Metro for a period of 11 years!

After two years of work on this project, our team at The Go-Ahead Group has been awarded this contract by the Traffic Committee in Region Stockholm to operate and maintain this network, known as Tunnelbana, which includes 100 stations, six depots, 106 kilometers of tracks and which, prior to the pandemic, transported 350 million users annually.

The consortium, Connecting Stockholm, which is 55% owned by Go-Ahead and 45% owned by ComfortDelGro, combines the strengths of both companies, bringing together the necessary experience for complex urban transport, as demonstrated by the track record of GTR and Go-Ahead London, as well as a solid reputation from ComfortDelGro which, through its SBS Transit subsidiary, runs the Downtown and North East Lines in Singapore, one of the world’s most reliable and punctual metro rail operations.

Under the terms of the contract, the consortium led by Go-Ahead will begin operating the Stockholm network, in May 2025. It will be responsible for customer service, the planning and delivery of rail services, as well as fleet and station maintenance. It will do so with the clear objective of offering a secure, punctual, reliable network focused on quality customer service.

During the term of the contract, the Stockholm Metro will undergo several major changes, including the extension of the city’s blue line to the municipality of Nacka, east of Stockholm, and of the green line to Arenastaden, north of Stockholm.
