In August, Ruta Portuaria successfully completed its photovoltaic self-consumption project by commissioning the solar plants installed at the Zona Franca and Zona Franca Sur toll plazas.
These new facilities join the plant at the Barranquillita Toll Plaza, which began operating in November last year. Together, the three facilities form the concession’s electricity self-consumption network, providing 100% of the energy required for our operations.
In addition, Ruta Portuaria has obtained all the permits and authorizations required to feed surplus energy back into the local grid.
The concession currently generates the equivalent of 121.7% of the energy required for operations at Barranquillita and 130.2% of that required at Zona Franca. The surplus generated is stored in a virtual battery for future consumption, thereby optimizing the use of all the energy produced

Ruta Portuaria’s new photovoltaic power generation plant and fleet of electric vehicles.
Our team has all the permits and authorizations required to feed surplus energy into the local grid. It is currently developing a social project to allocate part of this surplus to neighboring communities facing difficulties accessing electricity.
This milestone follows the recent renewal of the vehicle fleet with the addition of five electric vehicles to replace combustion-engine vehicles, thus achieving the goal of a 100% electric fleet.
Both developments reinforce Ruta Portuaria’s commitment to sustainability and directly support the Group’s decarbonization plan by reducing fossil fuel consumption, improving operational efficiency, lowering its carbon footprint, and optimizing operating costs.
