More than 1.2 million people relied on Metro de Sevilla to travel during the 2026 April Fair, consolidating Line 1 as one of the main means of transport for accessing the fairground and recording the highest passenger figure in its history.

During the special operation, which ran from the Friday before the start of the Fair until the closing Sunday, Metro de Sevilla recorded a total of 1,219,079 journeys, 5.5% more than in the 2025 edition, when 1,155,377 trips were registered.

The company launched a special operation to respond to the increase in demand. Between Monday 20 and Sunday 26 April, the service ran continuously, 24 hours a day, reinforcing capacity through the circulation of trains, mostly in double composition.

Over that week, 971,185 journeys were made, averaging 138,700 per day, reflecting high and sustained demand throughout the Fair.

The Tuesday of the Fair was the busiest day, with 178,859 journeys, the highest daily figure recorded since the line began operating. It was followed by Wednesday, with 159,009 trips, and Thursday, with 158,798, with demand remaining above 150,000 daily journeys for several consecutive days.

To respond to this increase in passengers, transport supply was reinforced by more than 127% compared with a normal week. This operation enabled passenger flows to be evenly distributed across stations and trains, facilitating access to the fairground and helping maintain a smooth service throughout the celebration.

The operation was carried out without any significant incidents and with a high level of regularity, a result that highlights the commitment and coordination of all the teams involved. This new record reaffirms the role of Metro de Sevilla as a key element in promoting more efficient and sustainable mobility during one of the city’s events with the highest travel volume.
