Madrid, capital of the infrastructure world

Last week, Madrid became the capital of the infrastructure world, thanks to hosting two important events in the sector at international and national levels.

Earlier the week, on 26 and 27 September, the 7th Annual World Infrastructure and Energy Summit organized by Euromoney-Global IJ was held in Hesperia Hotel.

The event brought together professionals of infrastructure sector with the aim of examining the business of developing, financing, refinancing and selling infrastructure assets globally.

Focusing specifically on learning from landmark transactions, identifying new entrants into the market and pinpointing future opportunity for investment and finance.

Javier Pérez Fortea, CEO of Globalvia, participated as speaker in the “View from the C-suite: Delving into sponsors’ financing strategies and their outlook on the overall energy & infrastructure markets in 2017” panel sharing discussion with senior executives such as Francisco Clemente Cintra or Nicolás Navas de Jenner Renewables.

Participants in the panel had the opportunity to analyze the state of the worldwide infrastructure sector and its financing and assess the near future and market needs.

In turn, on Thursday, September 29, Globalvia had a very active participation in INVESTructuras 2016, the Annual Meeting on Investment and Financing in the infrastructure sector organized by IFAES.

The objectives of this eddition were focused on knowing the trends and current mechanisms for financing infrastructure, analyzing the role of PPPs in urban projects and municipal services, evaluate the concessionary process in Spain, discussing the growing interest of funds and institutional investors in infrastructure projects, listening to the perspectives of CEOs on national and international activity in the sector, examining the PPPs present and opportunities and analyzing the opportunities, risks and strategies that have certain countries for the internationalization of Spanish companies.

The representation of Globalvia was performed by Javier Pérez Fortea, who participated in the “CEOS Panel“, Carlos Lacleta of Michelena, Chief Legal Counsel Business Development in the panel “The 2016 concession model: towards approval our concessionary processes“ and Pablo Borrego, Investment Director, in one of the international tables focused on “Oceania, Canada and USA”.
